The Brain CT Analysis of the Pediatric Patients with Convulsive Seizure

Abstract
The pathological manifestation of the pediatric patient with convulsive seizures has not been clearly proved mostly until the clinical use of brain computerized tomography.
Present study was carried out for comparison between the brain CT findings and seizure types, onset of disease, EEG findings and neurologic findings.
130 patients with history of convulsive seizure age below 18year old were studied and. results obtained were as follow.
1. The CT scan revealed structural abnormalities in 31.6% of patients with seizurdisorders, and their main clinical diagnosis was cortical atrophy.
2. The patients with secondary generalized seizure and partial seizure had a higher rat: of abnormal CT findings than primary generalized seizure.
3. The patients had higher rate of abnormal CT findings who showed focal slow wav: on EEG.
4. Abnormal CT finding in patient age below 5 years was mostly cortical atrophy, ove 5 years of age were nonspecific granuloma, calcification, parasitic lesion and brain tumor. 5. The positive abnormal neurologic finding showed higher rate of CT abnormalities.
